27Daw Yu Yu Aung, 25-year-old teacher on Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), was detained by junta’s forces in Oakshitpin Township, Bago Region at midnight on November 11 with accusation that her spouse was a member of People Defense Force (PDF). According to locals, the husband had left home for a long time and the teacher had been selling food on Facebook to make ends meet. Their 18-month-old son was also taken along with the teacher, Mizzima News reported. Whereabouts of another victim named Ko Min Min Soe from Naypyitaw who was abducted on November 6 for supposedly contacting PDF remain unknown after a week. The 26-year-old man is an aluminum welder who was out simply doing his job on the day he was snatched by junta’s forces, said a family member.
Regime’s forces attempted to arrest a nurse called Ma Phyu Pyar Aung in Dawei Town of Tanintharyi Region yesterday afternoon. Three cars and over 20 soldiers were seen arriving at the house. Since the girl had already fled home, the soldiers instead beat and abducted her two brothers who were just 16 and 14 years of age. They also ransacked the house and stole personal belongings of Ma Phyu Pyar Aung while mumbling the words “we will get you”. A source close to the family told Mizzima news that whereabouts of the kids are still unknown and the whole family is worried sick. Also in Mattaya Township, Mandalay, a father, and an uncle of a youth on warrant list were abducted last night in Kyauktada Village and the family was contacted today to collect the dead body of the uncle. The victim was called Ko Ye Aung, and his wife just had a baby recently.
We reported previously that junta’s forces had accelerated their efforts to collect electricity bills by threatening to cut off power supply. A news came from Sagaing Region that an officer from Ye-U’s electricity supply office was charged with Sedition Act 505A because he refused to disconnect the power supply on non-payers. The man has reportedly gone into hiding. When it comes to enforcing their power, State Administration Council (SAC) can be equally cunning to their own men.
In battle news, two security vehicles patrolling in Kawmhu Township, Yangon were ambushed by PDF yesterday evening and two soldiers were severely harmed according to National Unity Government (NUG)’s information. Chinland Defense Force (CDF) Paletwa released a statement that they had attacked junta’s convoy on Matupi-Paletwa road for three days in a row during Nov 9 to Nov 11, killing at least 11 soldiers and injuring multiple. CDF Mindat also said they had 12 encounters with junta’s forces on Mindat-Matupi road during Nov 2 to Nov 10 in which junta lost 70 soldiers and CDF Mindat suffered one death.
In Yesagyo Township, Magwe Region, Pakhan Nge Police Station was attacked by joint PDFs this afternoon. After 30 minutes of back-and-forth firings, regime’s policemen were forced to give up their position and runaway. PDF reportedly captured two rifles and two motorbike before setting the station on fire. Also today, Pale PDF (PPDF) claimed that they detonated landmines twice on regime’s forces and caused multiple deaths in Sagaing Region. The first time took place around 3pm today near Kyunchaung Bridge, Pale Township while about 50 junta’s soldiers were approaching the area. The attack killed seven soldiers. Landmines were detonated second time when more junta’s troops arrived at the scene to pick up the dead bodies which again saw more than 20 casualties.
On international front, Justice for Myanmar reported that Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA) became the latest entity to pull out of the upcoming ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) on due to the participation of junta’s representative. JICPA is the fourth accounting body opting out of the November-25 event, following the leads of the US-based Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and CPA Australia. However, two UK accounting bodies such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) have ignored public pressure and remain set to attend the conference. An ICAEW spokesperson told Myanmar Now that they were “disappointed” that junta’s representative Dr Kan Zaw is a keynote speaker but decided to continue to support the conference “after careful consideration”.
SAC released a statement that the coup leader Min Aung Hlaing met with Mr.Vladimir Drozhzhov, Deputy Director of Russia’s Federal Service of Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) and Mr.A.L.Chekmarev, Deputy Director General of JSC Rosoboronexport, Russia’s sole state intermediary agency of exports/imports of defense-related products, technologies and services yesterday in Naypyitaw. Like-minded criminals reportedly discussed to increase the collaboration of two country’s military operations, military technologies, and economy etc. Speaking of allies, one positive news of today came from Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) that they held a meeting with Kachin Political Interim Coordination Team (KPICT) and signed an interim agreement on transitional period before elaborating on steps towards federal democracy. Kachin Independence Army (KIA)’s leader General Gun Maw was also in attendance.
