A small nation made the international headlines when Min Aung Hlaing staged a coup on February 1, 2021. To many, this country has always been cursed with its power hungry military rulers as if it is fate. Two years in, we have been working our hardest to rewrite our destiny and our future. Our defiance against the military rule started out with non-violent protests but now it has accelerated to an armed resistance. From ordinary civilians to public servants, monks and celebrities, every freedom loving individual has contributed to this revolution. International friends have shown their solidarity with us. Today, we honour the resilience and sacrifices of our people, and support that our loyal friends have shown. With this strength and spirit, we continue to march towards a new nation, which is like “a jewel of immeasurable worth” to borrow NUG’s Daw Zin Mar Aung’s words. As the slogan of this year’s anniversary goes “One Voice and One Round”, which we have paid tribute with our cover art for this month, we will knock the junta out because 2023 is our year.
In the first issue of third volume, we have exclusive interviews with the NUG’s foreign minister Daw Zin Mar Aung, a former prisoner of conscience Ven Zawana, people’s rejection of the upcoming 2023 election, an overview of what has happened in Myanmar two years under the rule.
