Freedom Memoirs Vol. 5, Issue 4

by mohingamatters

Five years ago, many predicted it, but few truly believed a military coup would happen. Today, the military attempts to stage elections and tighten its grip on power. There are those, both inside and outside the country, who choose to support the regime for profit or convenience.

Yet millions continue to stand against military dictatorship. Credit goes to them, and to the friends and allies who have stood with us throughout this journey. Five years on, we may only be halfway through. The struggle for freedom continues which is more complex and more uncertain than many expected.

We must also remind ourselves that solidarity cannot stop at witnessing. History is not simply passing by; it is something we are part of shaping. What we do now matters, and it will help shape the course of Myanmar’s future.

Our last quarterly magazine reflects on these five years of destruction, resistance, and resilience; and carries a message to our readers.
