U.S. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Wednesday banning the citizens of 12 countries including Myanmar from entering the United States, saying the move was needed to protect against “foreign terrorists” and other security threats.

Malaysia-based Scientex Plastics Company, which operated in Yangon’s Hlaing Tharyar Industrial Zone with approximately 130 workers, will cease operations. The military regime has banned individuals over the age of 25 from applying to become seafarers. Starting July 1, those older than 25 will be restricted from applying for the Seafarer Registration and Service Record Book (SIRB)as an attempt to prevent youth from using maritime work as a way to avoid military conscription.
