On International Workers’ Day, the Union Parliament Representative Committee (CRPH) announced it will collaborate with relevant ministries and organizations—including the National Unity Government and Ministry of Labor—to take action against the military council in line with Article 33 of the International Labor Organization (ILO). The National Unity Government’s Ministry of Justice announced that it has opened 31 township-level courts and one intermediate appeals court as of May 2. The ministry began establishing courts in May 2022 and now has 111 judges conducting civil legal proceedings in 29 townships across Myanmar.

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) stated during a press conference that it will not return the towns of Thibaw, Naung Cho, Kyaukme, Mogok, and Moeik to the military council, despite pressure. These towns, located along the Mandalay–Lashio trade route, are considered strategically significant as entry points into central Myanmar.

At least 22 people, including schoolchildren, were killed and over 50 injured when the Myanmar military’s air force bombed a rural school in Otindwin Village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region. Two bombs were dropped directly on the school, located about 5 miles south of the city. Around 10 of the injured are reportedly in critical condition.
