While the rest of the country has plunged into chaos since February 1, Min Aung Hlaing and co are living in their delusional world, thinking that they have somehow “saved” the people.
In the last meeting of the terrorist council, Min Aung Hlaing has the audacity to say that the country has developed for the better in the four months since the military has taken control of the country. We don’t know if it’s pure stupidity or they are just set on looking through their rose-colored glasses. While they pretend not to see the throng of people in front of every ATM every single day or the insufficient cash flow problems that people are facing, and also the insecurity that many civilians are subjected to since they seized power on February 1, their offspring are taking advantage of this current situation.
Reports came out today that the son of junta-appointed Home Affairs Minister, Sithu Htut and his friends were causing ruckus in Nay Pyi Taw. Apparently, their group got into a fight with another group at Excellent Bar and Restaurant on June 7 night, and while the owner and the employees tried to ease the situation, all of them got abducted afterwards. Reports said some of them have been released but the shop owner and 15 others are still detained.
Extreme violence and torture have been the go-to mechanisms of the military’s uniformed terrorists. About 20 civilian detainees in Mindat police are reported to have been tortured and deprived of food for a month since they have been arrested. Chinaland Defense Force’s spokesperson told RFA Burmese that the detainees were only offered boiled rice once a day without anything else, and on some days, they had to survive on water only. Speaking of detained civilians, DVB News reported that some of the families of the youths who are in Insein Prison are being extorted money in exchange for their release.
Are there any other disgusting tactics that they wouldn’t resort to?
More violence and clashes continued to erupt across the country as well. In the north, a civilian was reported to have gotten injured in the midst of the clashes between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the military forces in Kachin State’s Shwegu township on June 8. In the west, the military forces are using heavy artillery during the fight with the Chinland Defense Force (CDF) in Mindat, Chin State. A member of CDF told Myanmar Now that due to the heavy shelling from the military near the Lu Se IDP camp, the IDPs have been on the run, and only children and elderly are left in the camp.
In Sagaing Region, a monastery in Yin village, Sagaing’s Depayin township was raided and looted by the terrorists under the suspicion of giving military training. The head monk told Myanmar Now that the terrorist just started shooting randomly at the monastery. In the east, the United Nation stated during their daily briefing on June 8 that an estimated 100,000 people are internally displaced in Kayan State by the recent clashes, and the UN team is requesting the military’s security forces to allow a safe passage of humanitarian supplies and personnel. And how the terrorist military responded… today, there were reports of military soldiers heading towards Loikaw and Demoso township in Kayah State. About 300 soldiers are reported to be on the way there in 7 armored military vehicles.
Today also marks ten years since fighting between KIA and military forces have been going on, and as result of this about 120,000 people remained internally displaced in Kachin State and other regions. The statement by the Kachin Political Interim Coordination Team urged the people to join hands in eradicating the military dictatorship as the uniformed terrorists are not just targeting ethnic people but everyone else after the February coup.
In other violence updates, a parliamentary candidate from Mon Unity Party was assassinated in Phaya Thone Zu, Karen State on the evening of June 8 by an unknown assailant. A 32-year-old Mi Wai Thi was the first Mon politician to be assassinated after the coup. Let’s be clear that some of the violence isn’t committed by the People Defense Forces. We know in times, like these, it’s difficult to differentiate who is who and what is what. But some of these violence aren’t the act of PDFs because in all honesty, who benefits from these random violence incidents? Min Aung Hlaing. He was reported to have told his fellow terrorist cabinet on June 7 that ASEAN delegates have failed to comment on the recent explosions occurring in Myanmar. The terrorist council continued to put the blame on the National Unity Government (NUG) and Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) for these daily explosions, and the NUG, CRPH and local PDFs continued to deny the claims and state that they are the doings of the military.
Despite the lethal violence occurring across the nations, people continued to protest and express their voices out loud against the military dictatorship. Today, we saw people from Hpakant township, Kachin State resisting injustice in spite of the threats that people were resorted to on the previous night for joining the night protests. Mandalay university continued on with their rallies with people from Magway’s Myaing township, Sagaing’s Kaylay and Salingyi townships and Launglon and Dawei townships joining in daily protests against the terrorist military and the leaders.
Lastly, as a public service announcement, Chin World media reported yesterday that about 1000 residents, including elderly and children in Mindat, Chin State are in dire need of basic food assistance shortage. Residents said that since the clashes a month ago, the shops in town had been closed; water was still cut off, and rice ration was also on the verge of depletion.
