The last strategic military base of the junta’s army in Kun Long was captured. During the battle, the Kun Long militia also surrendered to the MNDAA, and a large number of weapons and provisions were confiscated from the regime’s Battalion Unit 143.

November 4, 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG) of Myanmar announced that seven military camps, three police stations, and two prison camps from eight townships in Sagaing and Magway were attacked, and local People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) successfully captured the army’s bases.

November 5, 2023

The regime’s army arrested 12 men aged between 25 to 30 in Ngayokekaungtaung Village, Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyarwaddy Region. The cited reason was for going out during curfew hours. They were later sent to take military training in Pathein Southwest Military Headquarters.

November 6, 2023

In the Sagaing Region, Kawlin Town, situated on the border of the Sagaing and Kachin states, was successfully occupied by the resistance forces, where the NUG flag was hoisted.

November 7, 2023

In solidarity with Operation 1027 in Shan-north, a coalition of Karenni-based resistance forces launched Operation 1107 on November 7, 2023. Comprising the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), Karenni National People’s Liberation Front (KNPLF), Karenni Army (KA), and PDF, the campaign successfully raided and took control of a military station in Pan Dein Village, Mese Township, along the Thai-Myanmar border on the first day.

The regime held a National Defence and Security Council (NDSC) meeting to discuss Operation 1027.

November 10, 2023

Former Minister of Home Affairs Lt. General Soe Htut received five years of imprisonment from a military tribunal with corruption charges. The news was announced on the regime-controlled television.  The NUG’s Ministry of Interior and Immigration announced that 63 political prisoners being detained at the Myoma Police Station in Kawlin were rescued. People fleeing Laukkai, a business hub on the China-Myanmar border where major clashes between the resistance forces and junta troops were happening, were stranded in the sugar cane field on the side of the road right outside of Laukkai town gate.

November 11, 2023

Amidst ongoing clashes and Operation 1027, pro-democracy forces launched the “Aung Thabyay” Movement, symbolizing hope for victory. People shared Thabyay flower photos online and offline, wearing them, offering at shrines, and arranging them in vases.

November 12, 2023

A junta K-8 fighter jet crashed in Hpruso Township, Karenni State. During the evening incident, two pilots reportedly parachuted to safety. The cause of the crash, whether due to external factors or internal issues, was unclear.

November 13, 2023

From November 13 to 15, the military regime arrested more than 50 civilians in Ngapali, southern part of Rakhine State. The reason for the arrests was cited as supporting the Arakan Army (AA).

November 14, 2023

The three northern alliances (MNDAA, TNLA, AA) declared that the entire unit of the regime’s Regional Operations Commands (ROC) in Laukkai Town, Shan-north, had surrendered to them. This unit, comprising 127 soldiers along with brigade general Kyaw Ye Aung and 134 family members, defected. 

November 16, 2023

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) announced that Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Canada sought to join the highest UN court for the Myanmar v Gambia case. They filed “a declaration of intervention in the case” to the ICJ. Similarly, Maldives also submitted a separate declaration. 

November 17, 2023

ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) alerted that Myanmar refugees on the Thai border were in dire need of humanitarian assistance during the press conference held in Bangkok, Thailand.  Committees representing Sagaing Hluttaw, Committees representing Magway Hluttaw, and Committees representing Tanintharyi Hluttaw made up of elected MPs from the 2020 General Election respectively announced that they passed a bill to commence preparation to draw up the Interim Constitution. The regime’s press team announced that China-made weapons and ammunition for resistance groups in Karenni (Kayah) State were seized in Pinlon Township of Southern Shan State.

November 18, 2023

The military regime threatened that civilians’ bank transactions would be monitored to check where and why the funds were being used. The regime’s Central Bank said it in a statement issued, urging the public to refrain from withdrawing cash from banks and keep using the core banking system.

November 19, 2023

The Karenni resistance forces successfully captured Major Khaing Thant Moe, the first active-duty regime pilot arrested since the coup. The NUG prohibited transporting aviation fuel from Thilawa Port and other border gates to distribute to the regime’s forces. This announcement was made by the NUG’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy as an attempt to reduce the regime’s aerial attacks on civilians.  The pro-military supporters were seen protesting in front of the Chinese Embassy in Yangon and called to stop supporting the armed groups in Northern Shan State, orchestrating the anti-China sentiment brazenly.

November 20, 2023

Indonesia, leading ASEAN this year, hosted talks in Jakarta from November 20-22 involving Myanmar’s stakeholders. There was confusion over the engagement with the military regime’s representatives. The NUG clarified it hadn’t engaged with them but participated in discussions with the Special Envoy’s Office. On November 25, the NUG’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its commitment to removing the military dictatorship, emphasizing support for the people’s will and pro-democracy alliances. Justice For Myanmar (JFM) demanded an inquiry into Cornerstone Resources (Myanmar) Limited, linking an Australian-associated mining firm to Myanmar military dealings, violating UK sanctions.

November 21, 2023

The NUG announced a successful counteroffensive by local resistance forces, seizing control of the Shwepankone Police Station in Welet Township, Sagaing Region.

November 22, 2023

An artillery strike hit a truck carrying Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Laukkai Town, Shan-north. The IDPs, attempting to flee the intensified clashes, were compelled to turn back due to blocked roads. Unfortunately, the artillery struck the truck, resulting in the loss of all 14 passengers.

November 24, 2023

The MNDAA declared its capture of the regime’s final military station near Laukkai. This signifies MNDAA’s control over areas extending from Chinshwehaw to regions within four miles of Laukkai Town, with their next objective being the town itself.  The district court under regime control in Mandalay suspended trial sessions due to a raid warning. A notice letter discovered on the building wall around 11 am hinted at a possible imminent raid, prompting the court to halt operations indefinitely. Local resistance forces in Chin State reclaimed Lai Lin Pi Town in Matupi Township from the regime, ten days after securing Reh Khaw Da Town along the India-Myanmar Border. This marks the third town seized from the regime following Reh Khaw Da and Rezua in November. The junta’s deputy battalion commander, Soe Win Htike, was killed by a drone grenade during the battle.

November 25, 2023

Anti-regime forces in Yangon and the strike committee quickly staged a protest in a market in Yangon’s North Dagon Township. Ko Nan Lin, one of the student activists and protest leaders, gave a speech to the public, explaining the current situation of the Spring Revolution to the public. China announced that it began exercising military drills near the Myanmar border to prepare the readiness of its forces for unprecedented conflicts, to protect the nation’s sovereignty, and to protect the people.

November 26, 2023

Video shared by Khit Thit media depicted Myanmar civilians seeking refuge from escalating clashes in Laukkai Township, Shan State. They pleaded with Chinese soldiers to allow them refuge on the other side of the fence. Despite their calm requests, tear gas was deployed to disperse the crowd. The Karenni People’s Defence Force (KPDF), a coalition of three organisations, deployed numerous troops into Loikaw, the capital of Kayah State in Myanmar, aiming to seize the final standing military base.

Sasakawa, the chair of the Nippon Foundation and the controversial Japanese ally of the regime, visited Nay Pyi Taw and discussed clashes in Rakhine and Shan-north during his 3-day visit.

The coup leader Min Aung Hlaing alleged the involvement of foreign drone technicians in the conflict in Shan-north battles.

November 30, 2023

The NUG said its forces had seized 44 Billion Myanmar Kyats from five private banks in the captured Kawlin Town, Sagaing Region. In Paletwa Township, Chin State, the regime has severed telephone communication, adding to the existing internet blackout since November 2021.
